Ayodhya: On Saturday evening, the district’s five MLAs and the Mayor visited the Teerth Kshetra building to meet Champat Rai, the General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. This meeting, taking place amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding the Ram Mandir issue, is considered significant from both political and social perspectives. The public representatives inquired about Champat Rai’s well-being and discussed the entire sequence of events.
According to sources, the delegation included City MLA Ved Prakash Gupta, Rudauli MLA Ramchandra Yadav, Milkipur MLA Chandrabhanu Paswan, Bikapur MLA Dr. Amit Singh Chauhan, Gosaiganj MLA Abhay Singh, Mayor Mahant Girishpati Tripathi, and Rohit Singh (representing the District Panchayat President).
Following the meeting, the representatives stated that an SIT is investigating the entire matter. The investigation is in its final stages, and action will be taken against anyone found guilty. They remarked that the truth of the entire affair would be revealed once the SIT submits its final report; therefore, it is inappropriate to draw conclusions before the investigation concludes.
The series of meetings with Champat Rai is being viewed by many as sending a clear message. Earlier, a delegation of Ayodhya’s traders met him. Subsequently, numerous seers and saints from the holy city of Ayodhya met him to publicly express their support, declaring him innocent in the entire matter.
Office-bearers and activists from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad have also been visiting him regularly. The collective visit by all the district’s public representatives is now seen as the most significant development in this sequence of events. These ongoing meetings convey the message that various sections of society and the organization wish to stand by Champat Rai rather than distance themselves from him before the investigation is complete.
