Terror Strikes Kulgam: Two Chhattisgarh Labourers Killed, Massive Search Operation Launched

Srinagar: Security forces have launched an extensive anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district after terrorists opened fire on two labourers from Chhattisgarh late Friday evening. The entire Kellam area has been sealed, and a massive search operation is underway to track down the attackers.

According to officials, terrorists believed to be associated with The Resistance Front, a proxy outfit linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, carried out the attack around 8:30 pm in Kellam. The assailants specifically targeted the two labourers, leaving one dead on the spot while the other succumbed to injuries during treatment on Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as 24-year-old Deepak Ratre and 28-year-old Bhopinder, both residents of Chhattisgarh. Deepak was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, while Bhopinder, who sustained a bullet injury to the right side of his chest, was referred to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences. Despite doctors’ efforts, he could not be saved.

Following the attack, security forces swiftly cordoned off the entire area and launched an intensive search operation based on intelligence inputs. Additional troops have been deployed as efforts continue to locate and neutralize the terrorists responsible for the deadly assault.
