Patna Erupts in Student Protest! Barricades Broken at JP Golambar Over SI Recruitment, BPSC Exams

Patna: Thousands of students and candidates took to the streets in Bihar’s capital, raising strong demands over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and government recruitment processes. Tensions escalated near JP Golambar after protesters marching from Gandhi Maidan towards the Chief Minister’s residence clashed with police.

The protesters are demanding action over issues related to the BSSC, BPSSC and 70th BPSC examinations, along with the cancellation of the recruitment process for 1,799 sub-inspector posts, which they allege has been marred by irregularities.

Barricades Broken at JP Golambar
A large police presence was deployed to prevent the protesting candidates from moving beyond JP Golambar. Authorities had installed heavy iron barricades to control the crowd.

As the protesters reached the barricades while raising slogans, tensions mounted. Several candidates allegedly broke through the barricades and attempted to move forward.

Police personnel intervened to stop the protesters, resulting in pushing, shoving and heated exchanges between the two sides. The situation briefly descended into chaos as security forces tried to prevent the crowd from advancing.

Cancellation of 70th BPSC Exam
Candidates have alleged irregularities in the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination and are demanding immediate action, including cancellation of the examination.

Scrapping of 1,799-Post SI Recruitment
Students are also demanding the cancellation of the recruitment process for 1,799 sub-inspector posts, alleging irregularities in the selection process.

Pending BSSC Exams to Be Held Quickly
Another major demand concerns examinations conducted by the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC). Protesters want pending examinations to be conducted without further delay.

High-Level Probe Into Alleged Irregularities
The candidates are also demanding a transparent and high-level investigation into the alleged irregularities in various recruitment examinations. They have been raising slogans calling for fairness and accountability in the state’s competitive examination system.

Heavy Police Deployment at Protest Site
Following the confrontation at JP Golambar, a large contingent of police remained deployed in the area as officials attempted to bring the situation under control. The protest highlights growing frustration among government-job aspirants over examination delays, alleged irregularities and the recruitment process. Candidates have warned that their agitation will continue unless their demands are addressed.
