New Delhi: A fresh diplomatic push is underway over the Russia-Ukraine war after US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone conversation and agreed to meet in New York during the United Nations General Assembly. Zelenskyy described the call as important and said the planned meeting “could change a lot,” pointing to what he called growing diplomatic momentum.
The planned face-to-face talks come as Washington and Kyiv continue discussions on possible steps toward de-escalation and a broader peace process.
Trump-Zelenskyy Call Focuses on Peace and Security
Zelenskyy said the two leaders discussed several issues during their phone conversation. According to the Ukrainian president, the peace process remains Ukraine’s top priority, with discussions also focusing on possible de-escalation measures and security concerns.

Zelenskyy also thanked Trump for signing a new Russia sanctions bill into law.
