Kabul. India’s Afghanistan affairs chief Anand Prakash met Taliban’s acting foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and discussed political and trade issues. Afghan media gave information about this meeting on Sunday. According to Afghanistan’s news channel Tolo News, in this meeting held in Kabul, the acting foreign minister emphasized on expanding political and economic relations with India.
‘Indian investors should take advantage of investment in Afghanistan’
Muttaqi emphasized on increasing diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries and said that Indian investors should take advantage of investment opportunities in Afghanistan. The media gave information about this quoting the Afghan spokesperson.
This visit is taking place at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan have increased over the Pahalgam terrorist attack. However, it is not clear whether this issue was discussed in the Prakash-Muttaki talks.
India has not recognized the Taliban government
Let us tell you that India has not yet recognized the Taliban government in Afghanistan and has been demanding the formation of a truly inclusive government in Kabul. It has also stressed that Afghan land should not be used for terrorist activities against any country.
India in favor of delivering humanitarian aid
India has been talking about delivering humanitarian aid without any hindrance in view of the growing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. In June 2022, India re-established its diplomatic presence by sending a ‘technical team’ to its embassy in Kabul. After the Taliban came to power, in August 2021, India withdrew its embassy officials due to security concerns.
