
Bangkok. At least 27 people died after a massive fire broke out at a pub in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, early Monday morning. According to officials, firefighters brought the blaze under control after about half an hour of effort.
Rescue workers reported receiving news of the fire late at night. Videos shared on social media show towering flames rising from the main entrance of the pub, located in northern Bangkok. People were seen fleeing to save their lives as thick plumes of black smoke billowed into the sky.
What did the Thai official say about the fire?
Thai official Anutin Charnvirakul told reporters at the scene that 27 people had died in the incident and many injured individuals had been hospitalized. He stated that the cause of the fire is being investigated.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control in half an hour
According to officials, it took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. Post-incident images show burnt tables and chairs and a severely damaged structure inside the pub. Authorities are currently conducting a detailed investigation into the incident. The process of identifying the deceased and the injured is underway.

In 2022, 14 people died in a fire at a music pub in the eastern part of the country.
Prior to that, on January 1, 2009, a fire at Bangkok’s Santika Nightclub during New Year’s celebrations claimed 66 lives and left over 200 people injured. That incident was reportedly caused by indoor fireworks.
