
Dhar. A deeply heart-wrenching incident occurred on Wednesday night in the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh (MP). Near Chikaliya Phata on the Indore-Ahmedabad National Highway, a horrific accident involved a pickup truck packed with laborers. According to reports, around 8:30 PM, the pickup truck carrying the laborers collided with a Scorpio; subsequently, the vehicle went out of control and overturned. The impact of the collision was so severe that more than 35 laborers traveling in the pickup were trapped underneath the vehicle.
16 Dead in the Accident
According to initial reports, the death toll stood at 12, but it has now risen to 16. Innocent children have also lost their lives in this tragic incident. More than 30 people sustained serious injuries in the accident and are currently undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals. Local administration officials and the police have reached the accident site and have commenced relief operations.
Expressing her grief over this painful tragedy, President Droupadi Murmu extended her condolences to the bereaved families. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh from the PMNRF (Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund) to the next of kin of the deceased, and ₹50,000 to those injured in the accident. Following this tragedy, the entire region is currently engulfed in a wave of mourning.
President Expresses Grief
Expressing her sorrow, President Droupadi Murmu wrote on the social media platform ‘X’: “The news of the loss of lives in a road accident in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, is distressing. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.” PM Modi Expresses Grief Over Accident
Expressing his anguish over the tragedy, PM Modi wrote: “Deeply saddened to learn of the loss of lives in an accident that occurred in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. I extend my heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this mishap. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. An ex-gratia amount of ₹2 lakh from the PMNRF will be provided to the next of kin of the deceased. The injured will receive ₹50,000.”
