Pakistan again raised the Kashmir issue, senior army officer raised the issue

Islamabad. Pakistan has again raised the Kashmir issue on the international stage. This time a senior army officer says that not resolving the Kashmir issue can prove to be disastrous. The special thing is that this comment has come at a time when the relations between the two countries remain sour after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The officer has said that the main issue between India and Pakistan is Kashmir.

According to a news, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, head of the ‘Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee’ (CJCSC), made this comment at Asia’s leading defense forum ‘Shangri-La Dialogue’ in Singapore on Saturday evening. India has consistently viewed this issue as a bilateral one, but Pakistan has repeatedly mentioned Kashmir on international forums.

According to media reports, Mirza described Kashmir as a dispute during a session on ‘Regional Crisis-Management Mechanisms’. He said that international intervention is needed on this issue. During this, he also mentioned countries that can play the role of mediator. These include America, Britain, Saudi Arabia, China, Turkey and United Arab Emirates.

Mirza said, ‘It has become imperative to move from overcoming the conflict to resolving the conflict. This will ensure lasting peace.’ He said that for lasting peace in South Asia, ‘early resolution of Kashmir (issue) is necessary in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the aspirations of the people.’

Mirza also mentioned the Kashmir issue and the recent military conflict between Pakistan and India. He said, ‘When there is no crisis, Kashmir is never discussed. As we have always been saying, only the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir and the UNSC resolutions will resolve many issues.
