New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Canada. He has currently reached Calgary, from where he will attend the 51st G7 summit to be held in Kananaskis, Alberta province. PM Modi has reached Canada directly from Cyprus. PM Modi will be seen with many global leaders on this international platform. There will be no meeting between PM Modi and US President Donald Trump in this summit. In fact, US President Trump is leaving the G7 summit early amid Iran-Israel tension. Trump will leave for Washington DC tonight.
The group of seven countries – Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Britain and the US – represents 44% of the global economy, but its size is only 10% of the global population.
PM Modi will discuss these issues with global leaders
During this summit, Prime Minister Modi will discuss important global issues with the leaders of G7 countries, heads of invited outreach countries and heads of international organizations. These issues will include topics like energy security, technology and innovation, especially the interrelationship between artificial intelligence (AI) and energy and aspects related to quantum technology.
This year the G7 summit is being hosted by Canada. Apart from the leaders of the G7 countries, the heads of the European Union (EU) and some non-G7 countries have also been invited this time. The leaders invited by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney include Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Apart from this, leaders of Ukraine, Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, South Africa and South Korea will also attend this conference.
US President Donald Trump is leaving a day before the ongoing Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada. The White House gave this information on Monday. Trump told reporters, ‘I have to return soon – the reasons are obvious.’ White House Press Secretary Caroline wrote on X, ‘Given the situation in the Middle East, President Trump will leave tonight after dinner with state heads.’
