Technology’s true benefit lies in reaching everyone… PM Modi: AI should serve all

June 19, 2026

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke extensively about technology at the VivaTech 2026 event held in Paris. He stated that the true benefit of technology is realized only when it reaches everyone.

PM Modi remarked that for India, AI stands for “All Inclusive”—meaning technology that serves everyone. While innovation is essential, ensuring people have access to that technology is even more critical. If technology remains confined to a few countries or companies, the world cannot fully reap its benefits.

  • India’s Digital Strength
In his speech, he highlighted India’s digital prowess. PM Modi noted that India accounts for nearly half of the world’s total digital transactions. This demonstrates India’s large-scale adoption of technology and its success in bringing it to the common people.

He stated that while technology can drive progress, it must be accessible to all. Citing Artificial Intelligence as an example, he emphasized that it should be used to improve lives, foster development, and protect the environment.

PM Modi said that India’s participation in VivaTech 2026 reflects this vision. India wants AI to work for everyone, rather than being limited to a select few.

US company Anthropic has restricted access to its advanced models for foreign users! Recently, the US-based company Anthropic blocked access to its advanced AI models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, for users abroad. This decision followed an order from the US Trump administration. Consequently, global discussions regarding access to AI have intensified.

Home to the World’s Largest Digital Payment Platform
PM Modi noted that India has undergone rapid technological transformation over the past decade. India is home to the world’s largest digital identity system and digital payment platform. These systems are being utilized across various sectors, including finance, education, healthcare, and agriculture. Recalling the 2021 VivaTech event, he noted that the world was grappling with the challenge of COVID-19 at the time. Even then, he had remarked that innovation paves the way when conventional thinking fails to deliver results. Today, too, the world is facing a different set of challenges.

Speaking about startups, PM Modi stated that India is home to over 200,000 startups and boasts one of the world’s most vibrant ecosystems. He urged people to visit the India Pavilion, which is showcasing a range of new technologies. He highlighted that work is underway in India on technologies such as 3D-printed rocket engines, gene therapy, AI tools for cancer detection, cybersecurity solutions, robotics, and smart city systems.

Modi further emphasized that India is an open society with an abundance of talent. The government is simplifying regulations and fostering a business-friendly environment. He mentioned that the government is supporting the industry through incentives exceeding $50 billion. Additionally, he noted that India offers the world’s most affordable data and green energy, making it easier for companies to operate in the country.
