New Delhi. The ongoing military conflict between the US and Iran is escalating and becoming increasingly severe. US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday that, under the direction of President Donald Trump, the US military has launched another major air campaign against Iran.
In its official statement, CENTCOM said, “On the orders of the Commander-in-Chief, US forces have initiated new airstrikes against Iran. The objective of these strikes is to further degrade Iran’s capability to threaten commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, the aim is to deliver an immediate and stern lesson to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces responsible for the attack on US troops in Jordan last night.”
The US alleges that the IRGC was behind the ballistic missile and drone attacks on American soldiers in Jordan on Friday night. The US military reported that two American soldiers were killed during the Iranian attacks in Jordan on July 17, while one soldier remains missing. Furthermore, four injured soldiers were taken to the hospital for treatment and were subsequently discharged; other injured soldiers have resumed duty following treatment.
CENTCOM stated that the identities of the fallen soldiers would not be made public at this time; their names will be released only after their families have been notified. Expressing grief over the soldiers’ deaths, US President Donald Trump said, “This is a deeply tragic event. They made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.”
Meanwhile, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth paid tribute on social media, writing, “May God grant peace to these brave soldiers. Their sacrifice further strengthens our resolve.” Tensions in West Asia have escalated further following the new US airstrikes. Experts believe that if military actions between the two nations continue in this manner, the entire region could be engulfed in a major conflict, potentially deepening the global oil and trade crisis.
