Will the War in the Middle East Finally Cease? Iran Sends Response to US Proposal via Pakistan

May 11, 2026

New Delhi: The United States had sent a proposal to Iran aimed at ending the ongoing conflict between the two nations. Iran has now issued its response regarding this matter. According to Iran’s state-run news agency, the reply to the proposal—intended to bring an end to the hostilities—was conveyed through Pakistan.

Notably, US President Donald Trump had stated on Friday that he expected Iran to respond shortly to the proposal sent by the United States. The objective of this proposal is to de-escalate the rising tensions and the near-war situation currently prevailing between the two countries. However, indications from Tehran had suggested that it was still in the process of reviewing the proposal.

Trump remarked, “I expect to receive a letter by tonight. Let’s see what happens next.” Meanwhile, when asked whether Iran was deliberately delaying the process, he replied that the answer to that would become clear soon.

The agreement proposed by the US is reported to be a one-page, 14-point memorandum aimed at halting the current conflict and initiating formal negotiations between Washington and Tehran. Under this proposal, Iran could agree to suspend its nuclear enrichment activities, while the US could consider easing sanctions and unfreezing billions of dollars in Iranian assets.

  • Iranian President Declares: We Will Not Bow Before the Enemy
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on the social media platform X: “We will never bow our heads before the enemy. Furthermore, should the subject of dialogue or negotiations arise, it does not signify surrender or retreat; rather, our objective is to uphold Iran’s rights and defend our national interests with unwavering resolve.”

Conflict Persists Even Amidst Peace Overtures
It is worth noting that the conflict—which erupted following joint attacks on Iran by Israel and the United States—shows no signs of abating. The repercussions of this conflict are being felt across the globe. Although discussions regarding peace have been ongoing—and a ceasefire was even announced for a few days—the exchange of threats continues unabated. Consequently, the conflict does not appear to be coming to a complete halt.

Prior to this, attempts were made to facilitate peace talks between Iran and the United States in Pakistan; however, these efforts proved to be a complete failure. Iran had also announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, though restrictions were subsequently reimposed on it. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Ali Abdollahi, Chief of the Joint Armed Forces Command of Iran, met with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. Mojtaba Khamenei has instructed Abdollahi to press ahead with military operations and to confront adversaries with unwavering resolve.
