Jaipur. Amid the ever-increasing tension between India and Pakistan, the Border Security Force (BSF) has detained a Pakistani Ranger from the Indo-Pak international border in Rajasthan. According to official sources, this action was taken on Saturday.
This development has come to light at a time when a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was detained by Pakistani Rangers amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, about two weeks ago. 26 people were killed in this attack, most of whom were tourists.
BSF is interrogating Pak Ranger
Sources said that the BSF unit of Rajasthan Frontier has detained this Pakistani Ranger and started questioning him. However, it is not yet clear how he reached the Indian border.
Let us tell you that BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw was captured by Pakistani Rangers on 23 April from the international border in Punjab and despite strong protest from the Indian forces, they refused to hand him over. India took up the issue seriously and demanded the immediate release of the jawan from the Pakistani Rangers but no positive response has been received from the neighboring country so far.
No information given about the whereabouts and return of the jawan
Constable Purnam Kumar Shaw of the 24th battalion was captured by the Pakistani Rangers on 23 April. The BSF jawan had inadvertently crossed the international border in Ferozepur district. BSF officials said that a protest letter has been sent to the Pakistan Rangers. They have not given any information about the whereabouts and date of return of the jawan.
About 4-5 flag meetings have taken place between the two sides, but no final decision has been taken about the return of the jawan. The BSF has given a protest letter to the Sector Commander of the Rangers. The Pakistani Rangers have maintained silence. Neither any protest letter has been issued from their side nor any information has been given about the condition of the BSF jawan.
Purnam Kumar Shaw seen blindfolded in the pictures
Pakistan’s social media handle released pictures of Purnam Kumar Shaw last week. In this, he was seen sitting on a vehicle blindfolded. He had a rifle, magazine full of bullets, belt and other items lying on the ground.
The jawan was part of the ‘Kisan Guard’, which was deployed to protect Indian farmers who plow their land near the border fence. The BSF jawan miscalculated the international border and went to the other side to rest under a nearby tree. From there he was caught by Pak Rangers. The jawan’s pregnant wife and son reached Punjab on Monday.
Family members met BSF officials
They met senior officers of the unit, who assured them that he would return soon. A senior officer said, ‘Efforts are on for his release. Possibly the Pakistani army is considering its options given the current situation between the two countries in the backdrop of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Earlier, such inadvertent crossings were resolved quickly by both sides.
