New Delhi: IPL 2025 will start from March 22. The first match of the season will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. All the teams have started their preparations for the upcoming season in full swing. Meanwhile, before the start of the season, BCCI has implemented new rules for players and teams. Players will not get exemption like last season in this season.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has further tightened the rules regarding the presence of family members around the PMOA area before and during Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. Apart from this, the board has made it mandatory for the players to travel by team bus. The same rule was also implemented by BCCI for Team India a few days ago.
According to the new BCCI rule, players will have to come in the team bus for practice. Teams can travel in two groups. According to the report of Cricbuzz, after informing all the team managers about the change in rules during a recent meeting, all the franchises were informed about it through a mail. The managers’ meeting was held on Zoom call on February 18.
The new rule also states that family members of the players cannot enter the dressing room even on practice days. Let us tell you that on match days, they do not have permission to enter the dressing room anyway. On practice days (before the tournament and during the tournament), only accredited staff is allowed to enter the dressing room and the playing field.
The mail states that the family members of the players and their friends will travel in a separate vehicle and they can watch the team practice from the hospitality area. The team’s support staff (throw down specialist / net bowler) will have to take permission from the BCCI to enter the dressing room. Once the permission is granted, they will be able to enter the dressing room and the field on non-match days.
