Indore Mobile Robbery: FIR Registered a Day Later, 10 Police Teams Hunt Suspects; CM House Link Denied

Indore: The police have stepped up their investigation into the alleged robbery of a mobile phone from a youth from Ujjain, after questions were raised over the delay in registering an FIR.

The incident took place on August 31 in the Palasia police station area, near Indradev Mahadev Temple. Anmol Verma, a resident of Ujjain who had come to Indore for personal work, allegedly had his mobile phone snatched by unidentified bike-borne miscreants.

According to Anmol, he immediately approached the Palasia police station after the incident. He claims that instead of registering an FIR at the time, the police accepted a written complaint and asked him to wait.

FIR Registered the Following Day

Following the complaint, the matter was brought to the attention of senior police officials. The case was formally registered on September 1, after which the investigation was intensified.

Police teams are now examining CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas to identify the suspects and trace their escape route. Investigators are also using technical evidence to establish the movements of the accused.

According to police, CCTV footage has provided some clues about the suspects. The miscreants are reportedly believed to have been riding a Pulsar motorcycle.

Teams from 10 Police Stations Deployed

The police have deployed teams from around 10 police stations across Indore in an effort to track down the suspects.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage along possible routes used by the accused, as well as potential hideouts. Police are also working to recover the stolen mobile phone and establish the identities of those involved.

Did the Matter Reach the CM’s Residence?

The delay in police action has also sparked speculation about whether the case received heightened attention after it reached the Chief Minister’s residence.

Some reports suggested that senior Indore police officials were alerted after the matter allegedly reached the CM House, following which the investigation gained momentum.

However, police officials have denied receiving any call from Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s office, his family, or anyone associated with him. Officials maintain that the case is being investigated according to established procedure.

Police Probe Another Mobile Robbery

Investigators are also examining a second mobile robbery reportedly committed in the same area on August 31.

Police are trying to determine whether both incidents were carried out by the same gang. CCTV footage and technical evidence are being analyzed to establish whether the suspects and their modus operandi match.

What Did the Police Say?

Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya said police teams are working on the case using CCTV footage and technical evidence. The immediate priority, he said, is to identify and apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen mobile phone.

FIR Delay Raises Questions

The central issue in the case remains the alleged delay in registering the FIR.

The victim maintains that he approached the police immediately after the robbery, but only his written application was accepted at that time. The formal case was registered the next day.

The development has raised questions about whether the investigation could have begun sooner had the FIR been registered immediately. At the same time, police have rejected speculation about any intervention from the Chief Minister’s residence.

With multiple teams now involved in the search, the investigation is expected to establish the identity of the accused, their escape route, and whether they were connected to the other mobile robbery reported in the same area.
