Lucknow: Government office buildings in UP will no longer be painted with ordinary paint. For this, paint made from cow dung will now be used. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given clear instructions to the officials in the review meeting of the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department that natural paint made from cow dung should be used in government buildings.
CM Yogi said that there is a need to make the destitute cow protection centers of the state self-reliant. Natural paint production should be promoted by making better use of the cow dung present in these centers. Also, a concrete strategy should be made for the manufacture of organic manure and other cow-based products in these centers. He has also instructed the officials to increase the number of such paint plants.
According to the news agency, according to the officials, the natural paint prepared from cow dung is completely organic. It is not only environmentally friendly, but also gives a beautiful desi look to the walls. Chemicals are not used in this, which also does not have any negative effect on health. Energy consumption is also less in making it and the cost is also less than traditional paint.
Cows will be given under the Chief Minister’s Nirashrit Govansh Sahyog Yojana
At present, 11.49 lakh cows are protected in 7693 cow shelters in the state. They are being monitored with CCTV cameras and the Chief Minister has directed that timely deployment of caretakers, salary payment, establishment of straw bank, availability of green fodder and veterinary services should be ensured there. CM Yogi also specifically said that cows should be made available to poor families who do not have livestock under the Chief Minister’s Nirashrit Govansh Sahyog Yojana. This will not only improve their nutritional level, but will also provide means of employment and income.
Rural employment will increase, women will become empowered
The Chief Minister praised the participation of women self-help groups and said that the manufacture of fertilizer, paint and other products from cow dung will strengthen rural women economically. In this direction, processing plants for organic products from cow dung and cow urine are being set up in Bareilly district with the cooperation of IFFCO Awanla.
Milk production and financial progress
According to government data, milk production in the state was recorded at 3.97 LLPD (lakh liters per day) in the year 2024-25, which is 10% more than the previous year. A turnover of ₹ 1120.44 crore has been achieved in this sector, which shows an increase of 16%. The Chief Minister has given instructions to increase the number of primary cooperative societies and train milk producers. By the year 2025-26, the government aims to form 4922 new cooperative milk societies and train 21922 societies. Along with this, the best cow shelters and producers will be honored by organizing competitions of indigenous breed cows at the divisional level.
