Asansol: BJP leader Agnimitra Paul has launched a scathing attack regarding the ongoing internal infighting within the Trinamool Congress. Reacting to a delegation of TMC MPs meeting the Lok Sabha Speaker and the rising discontent within the party, she claimed that the Trinamool Congress has now disintegrated organizationally, with serious internal rifts coming out into the open.
Agnimitra Paul stated that there is no unity left in the Trinamool Congress. She claimed, “What kind of beginning can Trinamool have? Trinamool has already splintered into pieces. MLAs are divided in the Legislative Assembly, and the division is clearly visible in Parliament as well.”
The BJP leader alleged that the Trinamool Congress is now left with no policy, no ideals, and no clear political philosophy. According to her, the party has shrunk to revolve merely around syndicates, money, and a select few individuals.
Referring to the relationship between Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, Agnimitra Paul cited an example from the Mahabharata. She remarked that just as Dhritarashtra’s blind affection for Duryodhana led to his downfall, Mamata Banerjee’s excessive attachment to Abhishek Banerjee has become the cause of the Trinamool Congress’s decline today.
She also commented on the questions raised by TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh’s son regarding the party. Agnimitra Paul noted that Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has been a senior leader of the party for a long time. Given this, if allegations regarding corruption or the exchange of money for ticket distribution are surfacing now, it is natural to ask why she failed to notice these issues for so many years. She said, “She has been a senior leader for 15 years. Did she not see the corruption earlier? Was she unaware of money being taken in exchange for tickets? Everyone was aware of what was happening within the party.”
A BJP leader also responded to the political speculation surrounding Sudeep Bandyopadhyay—regarding his ties to the camp of rebel MPs—and his wife Naina Bandyopadhyay’s association with Mamata Banerjee. He remarked that “riding two boats” is nothing new for Trinamool leaders and that internal alliances within the party are an internal matter. However, he also noted that recent developments indicate that rifts within the Trinamool Congress are now surfacing much more openly than before.
