Big Relief for UP Lawyers: CM Yogi Announces Cashless Healthcare, Boosts Welfare Benefits

Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a series of major welfare measures for the state’s lakhs of advocates, including plans to introduce a cashless medical treatment facility. Addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected executive committee of the Civil Court Bar Association in Gorakhpur, the Chief Minister said advocates are not just legal professionals but the strongest pillars of the Constitution, the judiciary, and public trust.

CM Yogi assured that the state government is working towards creating a cashless healthcare system for lawyers to ensure they receive quality medical treatment without financial burden. He stressed that advocates play a crucial role in strengthening the justice system by guiding citizens with sound legal advice and safeguarding constitutional values.

Highlighting the importance of preserving democratic institutions, the Chief Minister said the three pillars of democracy can remain strong only when everyone respects the Constitution and fulfills their responsibilities. He also cautioned against misinformation on social media, alleging that anti-India forces are attempting to create divisions based on caste, religion, language, and region through fake narratives. He urged advocates to help society identify such misinformation and promote awareness.

CM Yogi also outlined several welfare initiatives undertaken by his government for the legal fraternity. The Advocate Welfare Fund has been increased from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh, backed by a dedicated ₹500 crore corpus. Thousands of advocates have already benefited from the scheme, while the maximum age limit for financial assistance has been raised to 70 years. The government has also focused on improving judicial infrastructure by constructing new court buildings, developing advocates’ chambers, and enhancing the remuneration for Amicus Curiae.
