UP Government Schools Go Digital: Students to Learn Through Reels, Shorts and Animated Videos

September 04, 2026

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is set to give a major digital makeover to learning in government schools, introducing short videos, reels and animated content to make difficult subjects easier and more engaging for students from Classes 1 to 12.

The initiative, aimed at connecting classroom learning with the digital habits of Gen Z and Gen Alpha, has been launched on the initiative of Parth Sarthi Sen Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of the Basic and Secondary Education Departments.

The key objective is to help students understand complex concepts, clear their doubts and make the learning process more interactive and accessible. The move builds on the positive response received by online YouTube sessions conducted for board examinations and under the Nipun Bharat Mission, which have been appreciated by both teachers and students.

  • Teachers to Create Reels on Difficult Topics
The State Institute of Educational Technology has been entrusted with producing the digital learning content. Teachers will be involved in creating short videos and reels explaining challenging topics in a simple and engaging format.

Animation will also be widely incorporated into the videos to make lessons more visually appealing and easier to understand. A video recently created by SIET on Bagless Day has already received a strong response, encouraging the institute to expand the initiative further.

Videos to Be Available on YouTube and Facebook
To make the digital study material easily accessible, SIET is preparing to launch its own YouTube channel and Facebook page. In the initial phase, the educational videos will be uploaded on the official Nipun UP YouTube channel. Based on feedback from students and teachers, the content will subsequently be improved and refined.

From Textbooks to Reels: UP’s New-Age Learning Push
With this initiative, Uttar Pradesh is seeking to bring government-school education closer to the way today’s young students consume digital content—using short, visual and interactive formats to supplement traditional classroom teaching.
